Montiel is a community in the northern region of Mission Viejo, California. Residents here enjoy beautiful views, many community parks, and services nearby.
The Montiel subdivision was built by Mission Viejo Company and is comprised of 256 homes. The Andrea floor plan is the smallest with 1,225 square feet and three bedrooms. The Erlinda offers 2,033 square feet and four bedrooms.
Montiel is served by the Capistrano Unified School District which provides facilities like Del Lago Elementary School as well as highly ranked Newhart Middle School and Capistrano Valley High School. There are several private schools like Sunflower Montessori, Carden Academy, Al Ridah Academy, and Cornerstone Community School. Saddleback College calls this city home and there are several other colleges nearby like the University of California, Irvine.
Residents of the city have access to the man-made Lake Mission Viejo which offers beaches, picnic areas, trails, swimming, fishing, and boating. The lake is known for its catfish, bass, sunfish, and trout. Prizes are awarded to fishermen who catch tagged trout and the largest one caught as of 2006 was a little over 19 pounds. The city regularly holds streets fairs, summer concerts, movie screenings, and holiday activities.
There are several shopping centers in this region like The Shops at Mission Viejo which offers 150 merchants like Kohl’s and Macy’s. The city has three golf clubs with championship courses and special event facilities.
Mission Viejo is one of the largest planned communities in the United States and is known for its tree-lined streets. This city also holds many triathlons and 5K runs throughout the year as well as holiday events.
